Missing in America Project
Stops in Winchester

Missing in America Project locates unclaimed cremated remains of veterans for a proper military burial with honors.

Missing in America Project contacted Commander Hank Basye to host a pit stop for the Funeral Escort team of Medal of Honor recipient Buffalo Soldier Isaiah Mays and two Silver Star recipients Johnnie Callahan and James Dunn to their final resting place at Arlington National Cemetery. The services will take place at Arlington on May 29, 2009.
Our Post was honored to have been asked for this privilege and through the Commander's efforts and help from The City of Winchester, Clark County of Kentucky, Winchester Police Department, Winchester Fire Department, Winchester Municipal Utilities, Harold G. Epperson Marine Corps League Detachment 1113, BPO of Elks of the USA Lodge 2816, and Ale 8 One Bottling Co.
The welcoming ceremony and lunch for the Funeral Escort team went off without hindrance, even with the team's late arrival cause by weather and road construction. (More to come)
