How to Join the Post Harold G. Epperson VFW Post 2728 Note: On October 9, 2005, the National Council of Administration approved an amendment to Section 101 of the VFW Manual of Procedure to include the Afghanistan Campaign Medal (ACM), the Iraq Campaign Medal (ICM), the Air Force Expeditionary Service Ribbon with Gold Border (AFESR w/GB), the Combat Action Badge (CAB), and the Nuclear Deterrent Patrol Breast (Please Note: The ribbons are not in order of rank nor are all qualifying medals pictured.) Have
United States of America Citizenship. What's next? You see that you meet the requirements and you want to join VFW Post 2728. You can fill out an application at the Post located at 116 Sterling St, Winchester, KY 40391-1546. Please bring with you a copy of your documentation (not your original DD-214/DD-215) and your first year's dues of $25.00 payable by check, cash, or money order or you can print and fill out an application, mail to or drop off at the Post along documentation and dues. The Post is responsible for assuring the eligibility of every member accepted for membership. The membership committee will review your application with documentation and make a recommendation to Post membership at the next monthly meeting held every second Tuesday at 7:30 pm. You will be contacted prior to the monthly meeting. Once voted on for membership you can join the rest of the meeting. If you have misplaced or lost your DD-214 you can request a copy by using the link "Request Military Records". If you have entitlement to a medal, not shown on your separation papers, you may request verification and correction of records by submitting a DD-149 using the link "Military Records Corrections" or you may submit a Standard Form 180 for both Military Records and Corrections. Please remember the burden of proof for eligibility is yours. Our Quartermaster or Service Officer can assist you. |
